Two weeks

Well I have been over here now for almost two work weeks, and all I have done is paint, now it really would not be that bad if not for all the getting up and down when doing the cutting in. We started the ten hour days, four day a week work week two weeks ago and by the time Thursday morning rolls around my butt is dragging.

The first week

Well I made it through the first week at NW without too much of a problem. It should take some time to adapt to things, but it isn't nothing but a little thing. Getting a heads up on who the snakes are also helps out, there are those amongst us that are as Judas was.

Working at DISD

I have worked at the DISD since June of 1990. That is getting to be a long time and hopefully I shall be able to retire from there. When I first started working here I had some major adjusting to do as this place was unlike any where else I had ever worked in my then short working life but I adapted. Prior to DISD, I had framed custom house's, working for two independent contractors for ten years or so and while working for them I had aquired different tools, skills and knowledge in the carpentry trade.

Over the years I have worked in several departments and for several different supervisors, I have seen the upper management change many times and make decisions that just did not make sense to me but hey thats what they get paid the big bucks for but I adapted.

So fast forward to June 4, 2012. I am working in the Portables and Alarms Department, which was created in Feburary 2009 after BID was dissolved. Anyways, we were getting ready for summer, working a 10 hour a day, 4 day a week workweek. Monday morning I find out that once again our department was going to be dissolved and the four people in upper management would be losing their positions as those would be eliminated. Now those of us doing the grunt work would be spread out amoung the four maintenance quadrants. This will be a major adjustment for all of us, more for some than others and once again I shall adapt.

Too be continued...
